The Sunday Drive: A Heap O' Trouble In Vegas and Links To Milblogs

Okay, we're giving you a lot of good links in this post. Click on 'em all. Right now the Divine Miss K is listening to French Radio on Pandora. She's also wondering if it in any way is connected to this weird dream about people smoking cigars. Hack hack….phooooo Yes, it's confirmed. Los Angeles Wildfire update

“Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is urging residents who live near the massive Los Angeles-area wildfire to listen to authorities and evacuate if ordered,” according to the AP. Three people were burned when they ignored evacuation orders – they are receiving medical care and their condition is unknown. At least 6,600 homes have been evacuated near the four-day-old fire, [...]

Are you ready for a New Santa Ana?

This blog has been a huge success, by any measure, but I have been wondering lately if Santa Ana needs a new blog to call its own.  The Orange Juice serves the entire County of Orange – so why not build a new blog that will serve Santa Ana specifically? I have already bought the URLs [...]

Why can’t we create our own Olvera Street in Santa Ana?

Could an Olvera Street type attraction work in Santa Ana? Why doesn’t Santa Ana promote Latino culture the way Los Angeles does with their very successful Olvera Street? In 1810, year of the commencement of the war of Mexican Independence (1810–1821), Jose Antonio Yorba, a sergeant of the Spanish army, was granted land that he called Rancho [...]

Monday’s Town Hall Meeting in Newport Beach with John Campbell (R-CA 48th District)

Monday's Town Hall Meeting in Newport Beach with John Campbell (R-CA 48th District) If John Campbell won't give us a townhall meeting on health reform and the public option, we will bring one to him.

Ready to stand with me and fight yet?

For those who have not seen this yet, and for those who think it can’t happen here….

Senator Enzi: “Democratic proposals will make the country’s finances sicker”

A leading GOP negotiator on health care struck a further blow to fading chances of a bipartisan compromise by saying Democratic proposals would restrict medical choices and make the country’s “finances sicker without saving you money.” Any health care legislation should lower medical costs for Americans without increasing deficits and the national debt. “The bills [...]

Has Santa Ana’s City Place lost another tenant?

Is Go Rilla now Gone Rilla? “It looks like Go Rilla! Gallery across the street from Main Place mall in Santa Ana with a downstairs vinyl toy shop called Go Zilla!, has closed. And by all indications, has been closed for a while,” according to the OC Weekly. Ruh-roh!  How many of Santa Ana’s City Place’s tenants [...]

Mass for immigrants sets off O.C. Register’s racist readers

If these innocent people look threatening to you, then you are a hater! Picture Courtesy of the O.C. Register “More than 500 people gathered for a prayer candlelight vigil yesterday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, in Santa Ana,” according to the O.C. Register. “We’re here to shed a little bit of light,” said the church’s pastor, [...]

Pension wars continue

For much of this year it has been reported that apparently legal but repugnant to most taxpayers pension spiking in the public sector has been occurring. Those doing the spiking seem to mostly be those in law enforcement and fire fighters, enabling some to retire with more money than they were making when working. And [...]

Some random thoughts

Some random thoughts Why are corporations making billions called greedy, but those in government who take 30% and do nothing to create it are not? The top 50% in this country pay just about all of the income tax, but those that pay nothing keep telling us the top "Rich" need to pay their fair share? Why can [...]

Stealth State Income Tax Increases

Remember all that rhetoric from Sacramento just a couple months ago about no new or increased taxes? Well, it is sounding like more deception and sleight of hand has been foisted on the taxpayers. We know that the Legislature and the Governor raised the car tax and the sales tax earlier this year, stating these were [...]
