For Wednesday: Obama wants YOUR Health Care Questions

There is an online town hall scheduled for this Wednesday.  In an interesting twist, President Obama is requesting brief video questions be submitted asking any health care questions you want.  He will select the most popular ones and answer those questions.  You can post your responses to Youtube for other viewers to see.  So far there are questions of all kinds - from why are you trying to socialize medicine in the US, to questions having to do with how much it will all cost.  Would you like to join the first national online discussion of how to address health care for this nation’s citizens?  Have something to say about it?    Go to this LINK and find out how to be a part of the conversation.  So far there are only 24 video questions  now nearly 200 video question submissions.  Hurry, and be one among the first two hundred five hundred submissions! (the amount of submissions went up drastically while I was completing this post for you all!)

Click the above and Listen to this short video from the president on why it is so important that everyone have a voice in this important issue.  Political hacks from both parties want to dominate the discussions so that they can personally continue to benefit from a broken down, inefficient and too-costly system run by insurance lobbyists.  Don’t let the Democrats limit the options offered!  Don’t let the Republicans continue to “just say no!” to everything!   Speak up!

“Ultimately, your engagement on this issue is just as important as that of our lawmakers. I’ve always believed that real change doesn’t come from Washington, it comes from the American people — and we won’t be able to achieve reform without you. So America, tell me what you want to know about health care reform and I’ll do my best to answer your questions. I look forward to hearing from you.”   - - President Barack Obama, June 28, 2009

Dust In Your Eyes (Song for Iran)

  By TheNovemberSon

Inspired by the fierce courage demonstrated at continuing protests in Iran, a young artist performs music set to vivid imagery of photos from friends and from the internet.  For all who love freedom and democracy, it is so inspiring to see these people who remain unafraid in a very dangerous point in history.   Be ispired!

This is a song I wrote about the events of the last few weeks in Iran. I have put the song to images I have collected on various blogs and websites. It is dedicated to all those being persecuted and denied their freedoms. As an Iranian-American I am very saddened to see these images. At the same time, however, I am very inspired by the bravery, courage and dignity of ordinary Iranians to stand up against a corrupt and violent government. These protesters are not just changing Iran but the world.   - - TheNovemberSon,  6/27/09
TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) — About 5,000 protesters marched slowly and silently through Tehran on Sunday near a mosque where the government was allowing a demonstration for the first time in days.   LINK

Donahieu Pact: Late Revenge for the Recall

Word has it that Don Bankhead has endorsed Hieu Nguyen for Clerk-Recorder, joining Dick Ackerman's anti-Norby jihad. This is a slap in the face for the lone councilman who supported Don's quixotic bid for Sheriff back in 1990. Ackerman supported Brad Gates, who easily turned back the Bankhead challenge.

As Goes Maine…?

In a shocking development, it appears that not all Democrats are as economically ignorant as Barack Obama, who now advocates taxing every time an American flips a lightswitch, or in a Libertarians case, blows gas. In Maine, the Democrats have actually passed tax and spending CUTS in their state.

The class-warfare crowd in Washington wants bigger government and higher tax rates, so it's a bit shocking to see that a group of Northeastern Democrats are slashing tax rates. Yet that is exactly what Maine's politicians are doing. The Governor even makes the common-sense observation (that so far has escaped President Obama's attention) that there won't be any jobs without investors and entrepreneurs.

So when will California leftists and Democrats get it?  Its doubtful the class warfare dupes and the welfare pimps here ever will. They’re more concerned with demonstrating that they “care” about working families by cutting child deductions and killing jobs. Great job Democrats! Keep up the good work!

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

The new law junks the state's graduated income tax structure with a top rate of 8.5% and replaces it with a simple 6.5% flat rate tax on almost everyone. Those with earnings above $250,000 will pay a surtax rate of 0.35%, for a 6.85% rate. Maine's tax rate will fall to 20th from seventh highest among the states. To offset the lower rates and a larger family deduction, the plan cuts the state budget by some $300 million to $5.8 billion, closes tax loopholes and expands the 5% state sales tax to services that have been exempt, such as ski lift tickets.

Will the blue-faced crew get the family friendly message?

One question is how Democrats in Augusta were able to withstand the cries by interest groups of "tax cuts for the rich?" Mr. Baldacci's snappy reply: "Without employers, you don't have employees." He adds: "The best social services program is a job."

As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July, do we know what caused the revolution?

Will Sacramento Democrats trigger another “Boston Massacre?”

4th of July! Isn’t it great that we can all enjoy a day off with street fair’s with root beer floats and evening fireworks. However, have we given any thought to what caused the American Revolution that was triggered on March 5, 1770, at the infamous Boston Massacre. Who knows. History can be repeated. In the famous Boston Massacre only four civilians, including former slave Crispus Attucks, were killed in that initial confrontation. We are sitting on a new powder keg as many have lost their jobs, others are losing their life savings, and many their homes. Additional taxation might lead to another revolution in 2009 CA.

From what I am able to research on the events leading up to the Revolution, the British Crown had accumulated a huge debt during the French and Indian wars. Prime Minister George Grenville decided to expand the 1732 Molasses Act to broaden their source of revenue by imposing a tax on molasses plus additional taxes on sugar, wines, cloth, coffee, tropical foods and silk.

Legislative Democrats in Sacramento want to create billions in new taxes on oil, cigarettes, business and our VLF. While the areas to be taxed surely vary, the proposed solution has not changed in almost 250 years. Stick it to the citizens.
As the big 5 in Sacramento concoct a wide range of new taxes, even after we said NO, perhaps the next American Revolution will happen right here in CA.
Although we rallied on April 15th with 21st century Tea Parties across the land apparently we need to send another message to Sacramento.

In 1764 King George’s Parliament’s direct tax on the American colonies was the Stamp Act where they taxed newspapers, almanacs, pamphlets legal documents, Dice and playing cards.
In 1764 the cry was “no taxation without representation.” The next revolution is based on “taxation by representation” by leaders who simply cannot balance a checkbook.

What Is It About Molly McClanahan And Football Stadiums?

Dick Ackerman, Fullerton Redevelopment boondoggle history, college football, and Molly McClanahan.

It's not often that so many local topics intersect, so when they do this intersection should be scrutinized and at the very least enjoyed for it's entertainment value

Organized labor members may get a tax holiday on their health care benefits

Remember these two powerful words from president Obama. “I won!”

And for all those union members that supported my campaign I plan to take care of you. So as we craft the billion dollar national health care plan we send up a trial balloon that all active collective bargaining agreements will enable you to avoid taxation on these negotiated benefits while the rest of the private sector will be forced to add their health care coverage cost to their taxable income.

Please read the following Bloomberg Report covering this special interest group  concept at the link provided below. Here’s the opening paragraphs.

June 26 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. Senate proposal to impose taxes for the first time on "gold-plated" health plans may bypass generous employee benefits negotiated by unions. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, the chief congressional advocate of taxing some employer-provided benefits to help pay for an overhaul of the U.S. health system, says any change should exempt perks secured in existing collective- bargaining agreements, which can be in place for as long as five years.

The exception, which could make the proposal more politically palatable to Democrats from heavily unionized states such as Michigan, is adding controversy to an already contentious debate. It would shield the 12.4 percent of American workers who belong to unions from being taxed while exposing some other middle-income workers to the levy.

"I can't think of any other aspect of the individual income tax that treats benefits of different people differently because of who they work for," said Chris Edwards, director of tax policy studies at the Cato Institute, a Washington research group that often criticizes Democrats' economic proposals. Edwards said the carve-out "smacks of political favoritism."

Race to replace termed out Assemblyman Van Tran heating up

Birds of a feather?  Nutty Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and GOP State Assembly candidate Allan Mansoor

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

The race to replace termed out State Assemblyman Van Tran, in the 69th Assembly District, is heating up.  My pajaritos are chirping that Garden Grove City Councilman Andrew Do won’t be running after all.  But Orange County Board of Education member Long Pham is running - and he has been known to spend a lot of money on his campaigns.

But the GOP favorite will be Costa Mesa Councilman Allan Mansoor.  Predictably, he is already getting ripped by the locals.  The award-winning “Bubbling Cauldron” blog posted a very long and comprehensive post about Mansoor in April of this year.  Here are a few excerpts:

Mansoor is no slam dunk for the 68th Assembly seat. Even though he’s been the darling of the Orange County Republican Party hierarchy ever since he decided to mount an anti-immigrant campaign in Costa Mesa, the constituency he would represent in the 68th has a much broader ethnic diversity.

An Orange County Deputy Sheriff in his “day job”, Mansoor has demonstrated an inflexibility and cultural bias through his actions over the past almost 7 years. He became a national poster boy for the anti-immigrant sentiment that swept across the country a couple years ago. His smiling face was all over the media, where his mantra gave folks all over the country the impression that Costa Mesa was a haven of redneck bigots, intent on running every brown face out of town.

So strong was his presence in that movement that he was anointed an honorary “Minuteman” by the Grand Pooba of the Minuteman Project organization, Jim Gilchrist, who also became a major player in Mansoor’s run for re-election. He, and other frothing Minuteman activists stood before the Costa Mesa City Council meeting after meeting, praising Mansoor’s “brave” stand. Wackos from Alta Loma, Upland and other parts of the hinterland trekked to Costa Mesa to support Mansoor’s philosophy.

Never mind the Republicans.  Last year unknown Democrat Ken Arnold gave Tran quite a scare.  Imagine what Democratic Costa Mesa Council Member Katrina Foley could do?  I think she could win!  She woujld almost certainly have defeated Tran last year.  I hope she runs.  I would bet the bank on her!

San Francisco cuts fire department budget, shouldn’t Santa Ana cut more as well?

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted Wednesday to strip $6 million out of the department’s budget, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

By cutting $6 million from next year’s budget, the committee made good on a promise to reduce public safety funding to stem cuts to health and human services proposed by Mayor Gavin Newsom. And while the board’s liberal wing has been locked in a months long battle with the powerful firefighters union over anticipated public safety cuts, the supervisors only took one-quarter of the $24 million they had threatened to remove from the Fire Department’s budget earlier this month.

“In Santa Ana, a city of nearly 338,000, the Fire Department has chipped $2.7 million from its $54 million budget, pushing back training, holding vacant firefighting positions open and pulling firefighters from desk jobs and sending them back into the field. Six firefighters scheduled to go to paramedic school next month were told they would have to wait until next year. Overtime is being used to fill in for vacant spots, which saves money in benefits, but consecutive shifts can wear on firefighters. Santa Ana limits its firefighters to working 96 hours in a row,” according to the O.C. Register.

Most of the time our firefighters are used for paramedic services.  Can’t we contract more of that out?  There are plenty of private paramedic companies that can do this for less.  We don’t have wilderness fires in our city.  And building fires are pretty rare.  So why not cut more from our fire department budget?

Of course this could be a problem for Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido.  He gets thousands of dollars every time he runs for office from the Santa Ana Firemen’s union - and they also contribute to all his crooked council members.

You would think that an almost all Democratic City Council that is entirely Latino would do what the San Francisco Board of Supervisors has done - but Pulido and company are Democrats in name only.  They will keep nickel and diming residents before they dare cut more from “public safety.”

If you ask me, the city should be doing more to promote its reserve firefighting opportunities.  And we ought to be looking at outsourcing to the Orange County Fire Authority.  We cannot afford to keep blowing so much of our city budget on one department.

Irvine Ponzi scheme financier gave thousands of dollars to Republican candidates

“Irvine financier Danny Pang, accused by the government of operating a Ponzi scheme, received at least $83 million in inflated fees, salary and loans from his investment firm before it was seized by federal regulators in April, according to unsealed court documents,” according to the L.A. Times.

But that’s not all.  Pang also gave some of his Ponzi money to Republican candidates!  He gave $5,000 to Congressman Ken Calvert (that figures) and he gave $4,300 to Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign.  Click here to see the campaign reports.

Pang also gave $2700 to the Republican National Committe, according to the Asian American Action Fund blog.

Pang was a real piece of work. The L.A. Times revealed that:

In April, the Wall Street Journal reported that Pang had falsified his credentials, including claiming to hold degrees from UC Irvine. Pang apparently was a UC Irvine student leader — serving as chairman of a campus organization — without being enrolled, the paper reported.

Pang’s wife, Janie, was shot to death in 1997 when she answered the door at the couple’s Villa Park home. Hugh McDonald, a Newport Beach lawyer who knew Danny Pang, was charged with the crime, but his 2002 trial ended in a hung jury. McDonald’s attorney claimed that a hit man hired by Pang was the killer.

I guess Pang won’t be giving any contributions to Congressman John Campbell this year…

Free Your Health Care

What happens when government gets in the health care business?

Medicade - described at the time as a modest solution for health care for the poor. It would be run by the states and “monitored by the federal government”. Now Mr Obama is demanding that the American public accept another government program, a “optional” federalized health insurance program. Whatever its merits, the Medicade program has put New York and California on the brink of fiscal catastrophe. Its scary. Spending on health and welfare under medicade makes up 1/3 of Californias budget.

Go to the link and sign the online petition. RIGHT NOW. http://www.freeourhealthcarenow.com/

If you are NOT the 20% who calls themselves LIBERAL in this country, and you’re NOT the other 15% without the courage to admit you’re a leftist, why would you support such a thing? We can all understand the leftist attitude: Government should do everything it possibly can in your life, because you can’t. But if you dont think that way, you need to WAKE UP!

Every program you are told are going to be small and monitored, they never stay that way. After 45 years, the health care “REFORM” of Medicade has crushed state budgets. The national governments association said that medicade, due to ongoing regulation from Congress, has a size and cost far beyond its original intent. Values are determinative to a civilization

There is little argument that health care costs are going up and up for everyone. But the reality, health care costs under government programs are going out of control compared to the private sector. Ever tried going into your doctor and offering cash for your checkup. Do it. Its amusing. They dont even have a cash box, but they will take it, and charge you half what they charge the insurance. This is because they know some or most of what they charge insurance or the government, they never get anyway.

Medicade alone didnt collapse the California budget. Add in public education and you have 60% of the total budget. Get that? Get government to take over education and health, and you and me and all of the rest of America will be broke by the time you are ready to leave this country to the next generation.

Now, typical stage 1 thinking of the left means they really could care less. They dont care if they undo the free market machinery that made all this wealth in the first place. They just know they have better, more MORAL, ways to spend it. Imagine a leftist spouting morals or telling anyone whats best. They will spend it all and when its all gone, they’ll turn back to the people who helped build it in the first place, and ask for more. The right is concerned with making money, the left is concerned with spending it.

If you’re part of the next generation and you’re reading this without comprehension, I have patience for you. You’ve been shown an Inconvenient Truth instead of being taught Algebra. As spending has gone up in education, learning has gone down. When we spent less, we learned more in school. I’m not saying theres a cause and effect. Theres a cause and NO EFFECT. Spend more money, get NO RESULTS.

THAT IS GOVERNMENT. Been watching the Sacramento meltdown and New Yorks fiasco? The bigger the government, the smaller the individual. The smaller the government, THE BIGGER THE PEOPLE. Want to be a bigger human being, look for the government to do less in your life.

Want to know why Sacramento and Albany are expensive clown shows? As mandates grow, the ability to find anything else to govern is crowded out. Without anything to do, your politicians will grow corrupt. If you cant wait for DC to look like Sacramento and Albany, then sit back and DO NOTHING.

Everybody in America is treated. Anything else is a lie. Think differently? All you are going to do is to prevent someone like Steve Jobs from spending his money to get on a donor list in Tennessee. You are not going to elevate the poor to that level. You are not going to lift anyone UP with government health care. All you will do is tear down the greatest system on earth, a bit at a time.

EQUALITY UBER ALLES

The rich eat better, the rich are less obese, the rich have better access, the rich have their own planes. Its time to quit being so envious of what others have. This greed of the left under the guise of equality means that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness come second. That is not America. The only thing government health care will make sure happens is that we all get treated like the poor, not that we all get treated like the rich. The middle class, always the target of leftists around the world, will take the brunt of this blow.

Just like the $770 tax increase on your energy needs that the Democrats in the House passed today.

Remember that NO TAXES ON THE MIDDLE CLASS PLEDGE? Out the window.

This will cost you more than you know.

Sign the petition.
